I came across these photographs in LIFE MAGAZINE's archives. The event is well documented in photography from morning to late night of the grand opening of the Food Giant store in Lynwood, California, 1951. Growing up with Food Giant as our own local place to shop in the late 50's through the 1960's on Amar Rd. in La Puente, California brought back some great memories as a kid... you'll get a kick out of the sun baked graphics at the bottom of this blog of The Food Giant Girls. They appeared on shopping bags and sides of the truck panels. Hope you enjoy this site capturing an era in southern California that we all had a part of, either self experienced or from our parents.... Click on the photo's below to view larger. Enjoy! If you have any pics to share, please send them to me to post…. Enjoy the post!   Gary Cliser ---
